Pareto Analysis

0

Pareto analysis is a statistical technique in decision making that is used for selection of a limited number of tasks that produce significant overall effect. It uses the Pareto principle – the idea that a large majority of problems (80%) are produced by a few key causes (20%).

Pareto analysis is a formal technique useful where many possible courses of action are competing for attention. In essence, the problem-solver estimates the benefit delivered by each action, then selects a number of the most effective actions that deliver a total benefit reasonably close to the maximal possible one.

Pareto analysis is a creative way of looking at causes of problems because it helps stimulate thinking and organize thoughts. This technique helps to identify the top 20% of causes that need to be addressed to resolve the 80% of the problems.

At SDG, Pareto analysis is used in a continuous cycle. Once the high-driver issue has been resolved and cleared away, the analysis is repeated and work begins on the next high-driver. This way, SDG continuously improves its systems and processes.

Root Cause Corrective Action

0

Root Cause Corrective Action is a process of determining the causes that led to a nonconformance or event, and implementing corrective actions to prevent a recurrence of the event. The requirements for corrective action have been standard in the aerospace industry for decades.

Whenever a nonconformance is discovered at SDG, whether internal or supplier-driven, SDG takes the necessary steps to ensure that the issue doesn’t arise again. Our analysis is driven by state-of-the-art tools and techniques employed across the aerospace industry, including fishbone diagrams, FMEA, 5-Whys, and others.

Statistical Process Control

0

At SDG, statistical process control (SPC) is applied in order to monitor and control our processes where needed. Monitoring and controlling the process ensures that it operates at its full potential.

At its full potential, the process can make as much conforming product as possible with a minimum (if not an elimination) of waste. SDG performs SPC wherever our customers require it, as well as when it makes sense for us internally.

Model Based Definition / Digital Product Definition

Through our mentor company, SpeQtrum Aerospace, SDG has full model-based defnition / digital product definition capabilities. With experienced manufacturing and quality engineers and tools like CATIA V5R21, we don’t require any time-consuming conversions to less-capable formats or for you to provide drawings. We handle those things in-house to help you streamline your sourcing activities.

Lean Manufacturing

0

As a lean organization, SDG understands customer value and focuses its key processes to continuously increase it. The ultimate goal is to provide perfect value to the customer through a perfect value creation process that has zero waste.

To accomplish this, we work to optimize the flow of products and services through entire value streams that flow horizontally across technologies, assets, and departments to our customers.

Eliminating waste along entire value streams, instead of at isolated points, creates processes that need less human effort, less space, less capital, and less time to make products and services at far less costs and with much fewer defects, compared with traditional business systems. SDG is able to respond to changing customer desires with high variety, high quality, low cost, and with very fast throughput times. In addition, SDG’s information management is much simpler and more accurate.
